THE METAPHOR THAT FUELS THE BAND

rootingEllipse is the concerted effort to have Tellus, Mother Earth, elegantly rotating around Helios, the Sun. This circulation has been dramatically altered as a growing number of earthlings are breaking off their laces with the remaining creatures of the Religandus –the cosmos— and are turning their backs against their messages and wisdom. It is in this sense that we can speak of the uprooting of Tellus’s ellipse around Helios and of the need to root it back in.

Rooting, to be sure, stands for 'grounding,' 'taking root.' It is another way to emphasise that our embodied, embedded, enworlded condition in Tellus is one of our most precious gifts. We should learn to nurture this aspect in our daily routines. It is a peaceful source of delight and a respectful way to relate to others within Tellus: pebbles that roll downstream, waters that incessantly move, trees that dance the winds, skies that smile to Helios...

Ellipse, on the other hand, stands for Tellus's rotation around Helios. It is a reminder of our standing alongside a number of other cosmic creatures which provide meaning and guidance in our daily life. No doubt, Helios warms us. Mercury encourages us to stay connected with cosmic wonder to 'travel the worlds.' Venus exalts the utmost sensuous in us. Tellus, as we know, speaks of that bountiful and benign womb that we are freely offered and that we can altruistically give out to others. Mars helps us to sharpen our noble bellicose spirit. Jupiter tells us that there is a protective and selfless spirit in each one of us. Saturn brings order and steady gait in our daily endeavours. Our social Uranus is about defending positions that exceed status quo stabilities. Neptune gifts us with the fantastic capacity to remain perennially captivated in a sea of imagination. Pluto, if we listen carefully, keeps us abreast of ourselves.

"So you feel that you ain't nobody
Always needed to be somebody
Put your feet on the ground
Put your hand on your heart
Lift your head to the stars
And the world's for your taking

So you feel it's the end of the story
Find it all pretty satisfactory
Well I tell you my friend
This might seem like the end
But the continuation
Is [y]ours for the making"

More love and beauty.

So did the historian,

Wish us to do.
